I have just posted from this portion in another entry. I felt so sad for her. And it says she took her "usual place" in your post, which means she never danced, as it was publicly said! (the Captain ought to have taken this tip as an entree to her fidelity, but he didn't, he mocked her instead, e.g. "Your seat, Madam!") (Mr Knightley would not be pleased!)

It's bittersweet and JA at her powerful best...
