I have one idle question and one frivolous question, concerning Mr Elliot in ch12.

It was evident that the gentleman (completely a gentleman in manner) admired her exceedingly.

Being 'completely a gentleman in manner' rules out the gape, the double-take, and the leer. So, how could his exceeding admiration be made evident?

The Miss Musgroves agreed to it; and having all kindly watched him as far up the hill as they could, they...

Kindly? Did they bestow honour on him by watching?
