Lucky he didn't visit...   Written by Moni (10/14/2008 3:49 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Look at it from his POV, penned by Deborah Y
Are you new?

to find Anne married to Charles! I wonder what his reaction would've been then? The CH. 7 text mentions Anne's thinking, that if he cared for her, she expected he would have sought her out before now. Eight years is an incredibly long time! She really believes nothing in his regard, has had no certainty one way or another, in all those years.

She has stayed true to him in her heart, which is subtle, but was very obvious to anyone, as she was still unmarried. He has no reason to be so bitter on that score, but then, he thinks he does, so this is how he acted, thinking of his own pain and not what hers may have been. In this way, his sudden appearance that morning might have shocked him more than he realised, if that makes sense. Perhaps just didn't know what to expect?

(BTW, I find the general thing about Anne being so wasted at 27, and Elizabeth being still perfect and glorious at 29, two years her senior, very hard to comprehend! Does anyone else think this?)
