And how much Charles would have been able to love Anne   Written by Martina (10/13/2008 8:29 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, In a sense, yes, penned by Line
Are you new?

Turning it around, we never receive the impression that Charles is regretting not having married Anne. They both seem very much at ease in each others' company (contrast that to CW and Anne!) and treat each other as good and solid friends. I doubt that Charles was ever really in love with Anne. IMO they got along well and since it was time for him to marry, he proposed to her. Certainly nothing wrong with that! But I can't imagine he was passionately in love with Anne the way that CW was -- he doesn't strike me as having that sort of personal character.

Perhaps Anne knew that her refusal would be the best for both of them. She may have even introduced her sister to him! I believe in that L&T, it would have been quite the normal thing to do.
