I am not persuaded yet...   Written by MarianneR (10/13/2008 3:17 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I agree with Laraine, penned by JulieW
Are you new?

Couldn´t it be that FW´s cold behaviour towards Anne is a kind of self-protection? I could imagine that for fear of being inwardly moved by her presence he confined himself to a more distant behaviour which turned out to look absolutely cold in Anne´s eyes.

Only when he removes the little boy from her or helps her into the gig his "real" feelings shine through. I might be wrong though. This is my second time of reading Persuasion and I must say that this time I am more disposed towards CW - perhaps because I know everything will turn out well at the end?
