In keeping a tally of the humour, I've had two surprises.
One is that Sir Walter is not the funniest character this time through. Ridiculous, yes, but I'm finding him scarcely funny at all on the page, even though he's a hoot on screen in both P1 and P2. The clear leader actually turns out to be the old greaser, Mr Shepherd, with his never daring to approach the word 'advertise' again, and his being all gratitude for the reminder of Mr Wentworth's name, et cetera.
The other is that all three times when I laughed with a character, not at, were to do with children. (Preservation of furniture, more cake than is good for them, and proposals of carrying them away in his coat pocket.) I don't know whether there's any significance to that, but there it is. :-)
