I wonder if Mr Shepherd had consulted with LR in any way regarding the Crofts when he was in pursuit of renters...

I know she was in the know when the arrangements were being made, but in the early stages, did Mr Shepherd do all this on his own, and then informed the Elliots and LR?

I wonder what came after what in the timeline. In the chapter, it seems that LR found out about the same time as the Elliots because even Anne was a bit surprised at the coincidence.
