"I'll show them!" was implied (I think) in the thread below (see Line's post mentioning "I'll show her!") where CW's mental state at sea was dissected :-)

I'm beginning to like the idea of including LR in the "I'll show her!" boost because it would make sense for CW to be gentle (in chapters 1-6) toward his beloved Anne although I still maintain that CW's determined mind would take him to the world's ends, with or without Anne... :-)

Perhaps it was a bit of both, after all... :-) :-) One could not begin to completely comb through a complex mind such as CW's (OK, maybe I'm giving the Captain too much credit LOL).
