about the engagement, but I think that the coincidence of the Crofts taking Kellynch is explicable. Suppose they heard about it, and she realised that it was near Monkford, where Edward had been curate. It is natural to have an attraction to things with which we have some kind of connection, as it gives a form of familarity. They are in Somerset because of the Admiral's connections, and a further link on her side could easily be, totally unconsciously, attractive.
