I meant that I'd always read the text to mean that Anne only realized the connection between the Crofts and Captain Wentworth by the time Mr. Shepherd said that Mrs. Croft was Mr. Wentworth's sister. I only realize now, thanks to Carol's earlier post, that it is likewise possible (and perhaps even more probable) that Anne saw the relation between Captain Wentworth and the potential lessees of Kellynch as soon as Mr. Shepherd mentioned the name Croft. (And which is why Anne was able to easily provide the details on the Admiral, because she knew beforehand that Croft was Wentworth's brother in law and she also took interest in the former's career, as Carol suggests.)
