I see how you've made the case for LR's sensibility in advising Anne to go for stability versus visionary. I agree that the risk is great for Anne to bank her entire future on CW's yet unrealized futures. Look what happened to Poor Richard in Ch 6...

Still, in CW's own mind, he knew what he wanted and he was determined to reach it. But yes, it doesn't negate the uncertainties of life at sea, a life riskier from all angles. True to character, being headstrong and having "fearlessness of mind," CW forged ahead, seized the day, and made it home. For now...
