Lack of resolution...

in consequence of the missive, What I find interesting, penned by LeeAnne
"She was persuaded, that under every disadvantage of disapprobation at home, and every anxiety attending his profession, all their probable fears, delays and disappointments, she should yet have been a happier woman in maintaining the engagement than she had been in the sacrifice of it;" It appears from this text, as far as I can tell, that Anne is not really resolved on the whole issue. It's interesting how the words "she was persuaded" come into it. She is "made" to believe that it would be far more comfortable, given the projected negative outcome, with her present circumstances, yet it does not really appear to be so. I think in earlier chapters it says she has lost her bloom and is haggard. I can't help thinking Anne, given what she says about how she would advise someone in her situation now, has some misgivings. It seems she would think of a middle ground, as she feels she would've been happier in maintaining the engagement than giving it up.
