I just read the line that way knowing JA's liking for irony and subtlety. Also, don't forget that in ch.6, Anne is happy to avoid a *second* chance to meet the Crofts at Kellynch, though she is happy to meet them when they finally come to pay a visit to Uppercross.

Anne had very sincerely rejoiced in there being no means of her going. She wished, however, to see the Crofts, and was glad to be within when the visit was returned.

On the other hand, you could definitely read it Reeba's way too. The fun of a GR is seeing things from a different POV! :-)
