No visits to London...   Written by Moni (10/8/2008 11:18 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, What this says..., penned by Kathryn Ann
Are you new?

CH. 2 "(Lady Russell) She had been repeatedly very earnest in trying to get Anne included in the visit to London, sensibly open to all the injustice and all the discredit of the selfish arrangements which shut her out, and on many lesser occasions had endeavoured to give Elizabeth the advantage of her own better judgment and experience; but always in vain..."

Agree, and Lady Russell seems to think their attitudes out of place as well, and sees Anne as deliberately shut out, with no negotiation possible with Elizabeth. It says Lady Russell made efforts to give Elizabeth the advantage of her better judgement, etc., but always in vain, so this there could be no change of mind possible, no matter what the influence.
