might have mentioned Wentworth's brother in law to Lady Russel when the latter raised this objection-if he was in a position help Wentworth's career?

Anne herself, at least, knows who Croft is, and even though this is Lady Russel's idea, Anne can't convince herself that LR is wrong about this- nor does it seem that Wentworth could convince her.

I'm just not sure that Croft had the kind of influence in '06 that could have really helped Wentworth out.
