Heartily agree--Cinderella &" ill usage".   Written by nan duval (10/8/2008 8:39 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Anne as Cinderella, and other characterizations, penned by Caroline SO

Just noticed the Cinderella feature this morning as I was re-reading chapter 4. I've also started trying to tally the times someone feels "ill used". So far Sir Walter & Elizabeth feel ill used about being in debt--even though it is their own fault, Mary feels ill used whenever she isn't given what she considers due deference--rather unreasonable, Captain Wentworth is the only one really entitled IMNSHO to feel ill used because of Anne's breaking the engagement--although there were mitigating circumstances on her side. Anne--the one with the most right to feel ill used is never said to feel so--her only concerns appear to be for others--the ultimate Cinderella posture.
