Haughty and distant, yes, that fits with 'repulsive' (ch6)

in consequence of the missive, I have quite a lot of sympathy for Elizabeth, penned by Rae
Mary was not so repulsive and unsisterly as Elizabeth, nor so inaccessible to all influence of hers It seemed like JA was making a very unsubtle value judgment about Mary (somewhat vile) and Elizabeth (even viler), instead of letting their behaviour be our guide. But this time I've checked a dictionary and seen that 'repulsive' has an alternative and more specific meaning: distant, cold, and forbidding. I'll assume that that was the meaning JA intended, unless Elizabeth turns out to be substantially worse-behaved than Mary.
