Hello all and Thankyou Cheryl   Written by Tarn (10/6/2008 2:04 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Guidelines: Please Read, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

The Persuasion Gazetteer is great, and while it doesn't show the full extent of the British Empire, it reveals that Britain did have an Empire, which was economically excised from Pride and Prejudice, (and of course, deliberately made a joke of in Emma). This is the novel where Miss Austen gets to show she knows a bit of geography, so I imagine it would also have been a little more challenging to find contemporary information about.

It is said that no poisonous or noxious animal breeds on the Azores and if carried thither, they will expire in a few hours.
And this is the sort of information offered for filling the minds of rational creatures!
Thank You JulieW, Farah-Naz and Myretta.
