I was re-reading cancelled chapter to see what roused FW and if Benwick is mentioned. Here is a relevant excerpt "...that he had never ceased to love & prefer her, though it had been only at Uppercross that he had learn't to do her Justice--& only at Lyme that he had begun to understand his own sensations...". Now I am faced with new puzzle. It seems that he started doing justice to Anne in Uppercross before the trip to Lyme. I don't think we can surmise from the text such a change before the incident in Lyme. Was that when he learns that she rejected Charles?
