A fortune of 25,000 pounds may not make Captain Wentworth wealthy beyond measure, but it makes for the bear minimum of a really comfortably life. Maybe even a carriage. *And* he's an incredibly charming man. *And* he has the potential to earn more. It's certainly better than the fortune that he had eight and a half years ago.
