by that window is such a poignant scene even for the reader. One can easily imagine what Frederick felt as he overheard the exchange on constancy and love between his respected, longtime mate and the woman of his heart. As one is och course eternally grateful for what it lead him to write.


It's impossible to imagine Persuasion without it.

It is also wonderful to have more words from Jane A, and both impressive and moving to imagine her reworking the final chapters. I do hope she was thoroughly pleased with the final version.
