I agree, Elizabeth is witchy, if a house falls on her no one should be surprised. This line from Chapter 5 after LR discovers Mrs. Clay is going to Bath as Elizabeth’s “most important and valuable assistant” says a lot, I think. “Anne herself was become hardened to such affronts; but she felt the imprudence of the arrangement quite as keenly as Lady Russell.” This line really makes me feel for Anne and shows that Elizabeth does this kind of thing all the time.
