... this is probably all playing Speculation, but have to wonder how Mary would react if CW did becomse a Baronet. I know she never thinks much of these new creations, but stil... ;-)

When she was considering Henrietta as a prospective Lady Wentworth, she says that H would then take the place of her (Mary) and H would not dislike that. Sounds a bit like Mary is even trying to make herself out as hard done by in a completely hypothetical situation!

At the end she thinks it better that CW should marry Anne and her real sister gets a 'better' match than either of her SIL. And she gets to keep her place amongst the Musgoves! As her elder sister, Anne would presumably take precedence again over Mary whoever she married, and I get the feeling that Mary would be quite happy to be able to boast of her sister - Lady W! It's the Elliot pride in all those Connexions!
