Are you new?

I love the image of Anne and Frederick walking in their own little bubble. ;-)

] "of yesterday and today there could scarcely be an end" ... yesterday is already gone (all those years together that they lost), and today, of course, will end, too.

I read that a little differently. The bit before the phrase is:

"All the little variations of the last week were gone through; and of yesterday and to-day there could scarcely be an end. (ch 23)

They are rehashing the events of their courtship, and there could scarcely be an end to all they have to say on the subject, sharing their thoughts, feelings and fears.

I love these long passages at the end of Persuasion. P&P is really the only other book where we get an epilogue, as it were - this discussion of the courtship, the going over all the events, large and small, that shaped their feelings. It's wonderful stuff.
