Perhaps I am just looking at it with too modern an eye,   Written by Annette J. (10/25/2005 5:58 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Who is this woman you describe..., penned by Line
Are you new?

but I find it odd that someone would meddle so much in the lives of so called friends without it being somewhat pathological. I am not suggesting that the intense interest in Anne is sexual in nature by any means, but it is obsessive none the less. Anne is an adult when this book opens -- she is no longer a teenage girl -- and she is old enough to make her own decisions. Lady R needs to find another hobby than trying to mold people into what she thinks they should be -- she is no true friend of Anne IMO, as she hasn't a clue as to what the young woman is about.
