Ear and head trauma

I just wanted to add from a medical point of view that the organ which tell you what is up and down, and give you pose is in the ear. If you had a traumatizing head damage or a hard blow to the ear one could suffer problems with posture and also become overly sensitive to sound. So it might not be only that Louisa has a malleable character. It would be very frightening to have this near death experience and the posture and sound problems. I am myself somewhat sensitive to noise, if many people speak in a room I have difficult hearing what the person next to me is saying, more so than others. It is a little handicapping at dinners and social events. One cna only say "excuse me" som many times before one annoy people. So if she liked to be in a small company or only with the Captain I think it is understandable. Though in some aspects I think you are right, before her head injury she was trying very hard to be what she thought Captain Wentworth liked. Irony it was not really what he wanted but just a counter reaction to Annes behaviour 8 years ago. |
