The Elliot hypocrisy   Written by Cheryl (10/25/2005 12:50 a.m.)
Are you new?

This bit in ch 22, while it made me laugh, also made me want to administer several SUTHs!

Anne is planning to visit Lady Russell.

Elizabeth: "I have nothing to send but my love ... Lady Russell quite bores one with her new publications ... I thought her dress hideous the other night ... My best love, of course."

Sir Walter: "And mine ... Kindest regards ... If she would only wear rouge she would not be afraid of being seen."

That bald-faced kiss-kiss to her face, but ripping to shreds behind the back, and all on such superficial trifles just makes me see red.

-Sir W & E NASUTH
