... because as I've said before, Mrs S has always struck me as a bit sinister, an invalid spider at the center of her little web (the knitting is like a metaphor for spinning) of personal intrigue. Also, Mr E may be a scoundrel, but he doesn't strike me as being an out-and-out villain. I just can't get as worked up about him as some of the other JA baddies...
