Most of EE's social life took place in London   Written by Kara M. (10/19/2005 3:44 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, "wild after Miss Elliot", penned by Jenny Allan
Are you new?

and prior to the book. I think that may be why we have not seen these scores of suitors 'wild for Elizabeth" before now. Certainly no one near her own neighborhood had enough status to interest her.

Her fortune is not great which probably limits her serious suitors - especially among the higher ranking men. And also, prior the Mr Elliot's marriage, I don't imagine she showed any one else much encouragement. Very few men are going to offer a proposal without some encouragement, even to a very pretty woman.

I think it's very likely men are wild for Elizabeth every where but she is not encouraging.
