Speaking of it   Written by Cheryl (10/18/2005 3:17 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, How often has she spoken to them?, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

But, Anne evidently expected the Crofts to mention it during one of the ceremonial visits:

"She longed to see the Crofts; but when the meeting took place, it was evident that no rumour of the news had yet reached them."

How does she know the news hadn't reached them? Because they didn't mention it either in looks or words. So she must have expected them to do so if they knew.

I agree that the situation doesn't lend itself to much in depth conversation, and that Anne wanted to get as much info out of the Admiral as she could. But after the news is told, why couldn't she admit that she knows something of it?
