"Do not you think, Miss Elliot, we had better try to get him to Bath?" Coming at the end of that statement, it sounds like a veery direct hint!

One can't help but wonder whether Mrs Croft hasn't had a hand in all this; it sounds just like the sort of thing that might come up in their conversations, "My dear, don't you think that Anne Elliot..." etc.
