I agree that her assault on Anne's defenses, at age 19, would have been terrible!

I wonder what Lady E's opinion of CW would have been. Mindless speculation, I know, because Elizabeth probably would have been married by now if Lady E were still around, Mary might possibly be not as whiny, and Mrs. Clay would certainly not be hanging around! But since LR thinks she is carrying out LE's motherly duties as much as possible, I wonder what LE would say to her if she could. And even if LE had originally opposed the marriage when Anne was 19, I wonder if she would have changed her mind by now...I like to think she would have, but it's easy to project my own feelings onto her!
