That is just Lady Russell's opinion. IMO she is a poor Written by Annette J. (10/17/2005 5:05 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Conceited fool, penned by Robbin

judge of character and her "little hints" are poison for poor Anne. LR is far from an evil woman, but she is one who, oh, so smoothly wants to take charge of Anne's life to suit her own purposes. I have seen no mention of LR having children of her own, so I assume that is one of the reasons she mettles so much in Anne's life.
