also has something to do with her previous, unhappy experiences in Bath? She's now in a city, full of noise, strangers, and bustle. She's had to leave Uppercross, which held dear friends, and a sister who, though frequently tiresome, did need and want her company.

Right at this moment, there's no Capts. Wentworth or Benwick, or Mrs Musgrove in Bath to show Anne a degree of warmth and genuine interest. Instead, Anne has the indifferent Elizabeth and obsequious Mrs Clay for company.
