in consequence of the missive, Meanie Elizabeth, penned by Cheryl
She has been bypassed in the marriage market, has two younger sisters who have received proposals of marriage, and the youngest (and IMO the strangest sister) is actually married, while she grows older in the single state. Elizabeth has no real prospects, which would induce a feeling of panic in the heart of a woman who has no means to support herself upon the death of her father. She unfortunately lacks the self-awareness that might enable her to take a good, hard look at herself and realize that she is the main cause of her own misery. Instead she takes out her disappointment and fear for her future on Anne. I think Austen created a great character in Elizabeth!
