Your Card   Written by James S. (10/12/2005 2:05 p.m.)
Are you new?

I noticed that Mr. Eliot happily leaves his card with SW when the old phony is not at home. The practice of leaving your card -- does anyone have information on the origin of this practice? This is what they used in lieu of cell phones, evidently. I don't recall this practice continuing into the 20th century, or am I mistaken? But it is charming, and civilized.
