Canny Mrs Harville, I say   Written by Rebecca Mog (10/12/2005 6:07 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mary is quite put out!, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

To quote a little from the beginning of ch 13 (Vol 2, ch. ii), it's interesting what's reported of Mrs Harville by Charles on that first morning after Louisa's fall.

We read:

In speaking of the Harvilles, he seemed unable to satisfy his own sense of their kindness, especially of Mrs. Harville's exertions as a nurse. "She really left nothing for Mary to do.... the truth was, that Mrs. Harville left nothing for any body to do."

Yes, Mrs Harville is undoubtedly a fine and dedicated nurse, but I think there was also method in her actions. ;-) It was in her own, and the household's best interests to exert herself as she did - peace, quiet, and order.
