he knew she was going to recover. There was nothing he could really have down at this point. She was probably not spending much if any time downstairs and I really think it would have been improper for CW to have gone to her bedroom to pay his respects. They are not even engaged!

I'm sure Louisa's family told her of the Captain's devotion to Lyme until she was recovered. He may even have left her a note - but he could not have seen her until she was more recovered.

I can forgive him for leaving but if he does not return and give her some kind of explaination - Into the drink with him! ;-)
