In Ch. 4 "she had been too dependant on time alone: no aid had been given in change of place, (except in one visit to Bath soon after the rupture), or in any novelty or enlargement of society."

I think it was LR who took her to Bath (not SW & E)and perhaps over the years Anne had been so insistant about staying home that LR gave up inviting her. I think LR would not have refused had Anne ever expressed an interest in going to London or Bath with her. Anne certainly seems to feel that she has a home with LR whenever she needs one.

The being "vexed" statement does sound like LR does not devote much thought to Anne's situation when she is not in the room with Anne. But perhaps LR is not a person to dwell on things she feels she can not change.
