Description of Mr. Elliot   Written by Jen N. (10/10/2005 10:23 p.m.)
Are you new?

Sir Walter's description of Mr. Elliot: He did justice to his very gentlemanlike appearance, his air of elegance and fashion, his good shaped face, his sensible eye; but, at the same time, "must lament his being very much under-hung, a defect which time seemed to have increased" Chapter 15.

What does under-hung mean? I very much enjoyed Cheryl's Haiku without this knowledge, but would probably enjoy it even more if I knew what it meant!
