The main occurance of influencing your choice of marriage partner in this week is with the CW, Louisa, Henrietta and Charles Hayter quadrangle, and the Musgroves' reaction
Most of of the 'influence' tends towards speculation and discussion/gossip rather than direct persuasion. The most the Musgroves will venture into is some pointed hints. Mr and Mrs Musgrove merely state that Henrietta and Hayter would not be a great match, but let it be since she likes him. Charles and Mary discuss on end who CW prefers, but the most either venture in the presense of Henrietta is Mary's complaints and refusal to visit Winthrop vs Charles' insisting that he calls on his Aunt. Anne is the only one who thinks that CW is capable of making his own decision. We learn the Musgroves would have preferred Charles to marry Anne to Mary. Ultimately the only one who has any effect is Louisa, who deliberately sets about reconciling HM and CH
Although the young people's best interests were at heart for the most part, I did notice a lot of self interest coming into play in these chapters. The Musgroves would prefer Charles to marry Anne as she would be a better addition to Uppercross than Mary. Mary wants CW to choose Henrietta to avoid a closer connection to the Hayters, whereas Charles wants Henrietta to stay with Charles Hayter to keep the balance - 1 girl for each guy, and not have any disturbances by breaking an understanding between HM and CH.
Louisa's motivations are discussed below, but there is a combination of wanting to free up CW for herself, and wanting to counter-act Mary's influence. Henrietta had already decided she liked Hayter, but the combination of being introduced to CW, and Mary's comments were causing her conviction to waver, and Louisa encouraged her to stay firm.
Louisa's influence on Henrietta is similar to LR's influence on Anne is similar in that both Louisa and LR have close, trusting relationships with Hen. and Anne.
