It would have been an unusual trip for the Musgroves and Anne, to go to Lyme Regis. People didn't travel then like we do now.

As someone who grew up in a city by the sea, it's interesting hearing JA, who lived in the country away from the shore most of her life, describe the sea with such intensity and words that catch my own feelings: ...lingering only as all must linger, and gaze on a first-return to the sea, who ever deserve to look on it at all ....
