Are you new?

Within the poem itself, 'Giaour' rhymes with 'hour'(1 syllable) 'power' (2 syllables) and 'lower', according to its placement. The fact that they would be debating or discussing the pronunciation shows their familiarity with the poem.

I think the actual pronunciation is 'jour'.
