It's an inside joke Written by Barbara (10/7/2005 12:11 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, But how is it pronounced?! (nfm), penned by Lia

Within the poem itself, 'Giaour' rhymes with 'hour'(1 syllable) 'power' (2 syllables) and 'lower', according to its placement. The fact that they would be debating or discussing the pronunciation shows their familiarity with the poem.

I think the actual pronunciation is 'jour'.
