concerning the dangers of too much poetry and the need for balance might be advice she needs to take, herself. "Garbage in; garbage out" Romantic poetry isn't garbage, but if Anne feasts on melancholy, rather hopeless stuff, where is she going to get the encouragement and hope she needs?

Poetry exists in a rarefied atmosphere; the farmer in the everyday. It is interesting that the "life goes on" message comes from the prosaic world around her, and not from the philosopher/poets. (Even better, a foreshadowing of her "re-birth", the fulfillment of all her best hopes.)
