I thought exactly the same Written by Ramya (10/5/2005 4:40 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Benwick suicide?, penned by Cheryl

Cap Benwick does seem to be the kind of person who could succumb to such despair as to contemplate suicide. Good for CB and for Cap Harville that he had such a friend as Captain Wentworth who left to deliver the news w/o even waiting for permission granting him leave. I am sure the consequences would have been severe if he had not beeen granted that and yet CW was gone!
