Was LR wrong about CW?   Written by Kara M (10/4/2005 5:12 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Clever?, penned by Lia
Are you new?

When he proposed to Anne, he had nothing to support her on and no concrete prospects?

LR was being very businesslike about it - it would have been practically imprudent for Anneto tie herself at so young an age to someone who may never have the means to marry her.

Did LR say anything personally against CW? I thought her objections were solely pratical. Maybe I missed it - and I can't remember what happens next. I have not read P in over 10 years.

Charles did actually please LR. It was Anne - not LR who was opposed to Charles. LR was in favor of that marriage since he had the means to support Anne and would inherit the great house.
