Nurse Mary   Written by Cheryl (10/4/2005 1:53 a.m.)
Are you new?

Don't you just want to give Mary a slap upside the head over the whole nursing Louisa issue?

Back in Ch. 7 when she wanted to go to the dinner party, Anne was the best person to nurse her son for, "You, who have not a mother's feelings, are a great deal the properest person." and "I do not know that I am of any more use in the sickroom..."

But in Lyme, Mary should stay instead of Anne for Anne "...was nothing to Louisa, while she was her sister, and had the best right to stay..." (ch 12)

In both cases, Mary just didn't want to be left out of what was going on. I can usually laugh at Mary, but in this instance, I just want to shake her. ARGH!
