Inn not on the main street in Lyme? Written by Mia I. (10/3/2005 10:40 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Ch 11: "No thoroughfare of Lyme", penned by Joan Ellen

My interpretation is that the they are apologizing that things at the inn are not as lively as they would be in high season, and furthermore the inn is not in the center of Lyme, so presumably gets less visitors than inns on the main street.
