I agree that if one of the others had expressed an interest, Anne would never have mentioned that she might want one instead. But we're told that it was generally declined. And the walking party has gone on and is crossing a style before CW jumps over the hedge back and speaks to his sister. Anne has had opportunity to accept the invitation on her own after the Miss Musgroves and Mary have refused it. It still puzzles me.
