Anne is no Lizzy   Written by Jenny Allan (10/3/2005 11:50 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Distances, penned by Johanna Elisabet
Are you new?

I think Anne, we are meant to see is a bit more delicate and not as hardy as Elizabeth. She gets quite fatigued in Chapter 10 during the walk to Winthrop and I think she is not used to the practice of exercise. It takes a while for one to get in shape and if she's spent years indoors at Kellynch with only small rambles in the shrubbery, she may not be fit for a full three mile cross country jaunt.

Also I think there is meant to be an ironic comparison between Anne and her sister, the supposed invalid. Anne is the one who really fatigues quite easily, where it's made apparent by her behavior that Mary is probably as healthy as horse.
